Kips Bay Show House 2008

29 Aug

Kips Bay Show House 2008

After a wonderful, first-time experience with Kips Bay, we were thrilled to be selected for a second appearance. For this go round, we transformed what would ordinarily have been a master bedroom into an entire studio apartment with living, working and sleeping areas. After first grounding the room in inviting neutrals, we pumped up the volume by injecting rich, jewel-toned accents via custom upholstery, contemporary artwork, and a multi-hued, Moroccan-inspired desk. An ancient stone sculpture lends weight and balances the sparkle from the room’s piece-de-resistance, a bedsit area clad in panels of tin can lids.

Another story about objects that tell stories. Thi Another story about objects that tell stories. This one about Ruth St. Denis, an icon of the modern dance world when she hit the stage as a solo artist in 1905. In the early 1950s she befriended Gene Maiden, a young man with an eye for art and an expert in antique engravings. This dance/art legacy was passed to Matthew who tells their story here. #Antiques #dances #jacobspillow #ruthstdennis #genemaiden
