Los Angeles Penthouse

Los Angeles Penthouse

For a passionate collector of books and antique engravings about nature – particularly sea life – we transformed 8,000 square feet of raw space into a bibliophile’s paradise. Centered on an amazing, glass – enclosed library housing precious works from as far back as the Renaissance, this modern aerie is about as far as you can get from Hollywood – standard, but certainly cinematic. To enhance the uniqueness of the home, we designed a number of custom elements that subtly reference nature and the aquatic, such as a screen of bubble – like forms in Venetian glass and a sinuous bar clad in hammered silver. To balance some of these more whimsical details, we incorporated select antiques that created another connection to the serious collection that anchors the heart of the home.
